MONCTON, NB – As the two sides in the Codiac Transpo lockout return to the negotiating table today, one Moncton resident has made a plea to city council to bring the buses back.
Suffering from epilepsy and multiple sclerosis, Dan Robichaud has spoken out about the Codiac Transpo labour dispute before.
But last night, Robichaud told city council how important the bus is to those who have disabilities.
“For me, I feel I want to be independent. I want to do something with my life.”
Mayor George LeBlanc says he and other members of council are hopeful for a resolution.
“We all hope for the best and hope that we will be able to get together with the other side and be able to get our buses back.”
The city and the union will sit down with a mediator today for two days of talks.
This will be the first time the two sides have met since the last round of talks broke off in mid-July.
