RIVERVIEW, NB – A pioneer in New Brunswick politics was one of seven recipients of the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Medal today.

Brenda Robertson was the province’s first woman MLA and cabinet minister before being appointed to the Senate where she served for almost 20 years.

Robertson says the medal is a great honour.

“It makes me reflective.  I have been thinking about the years past and how fortunate I have been to have the opportunity to serve such good, good people,” notes Robertson.

Today’s ceremony at Riverview Town Hall also honoured war veterans Charlie Webber and Dennis Goodwin and community volunteers Isabelle Hicks and Michael Bushell.
