SUSSEX, N.B. – The investigation into the cause of a devastating fire in Sussex continues.

While Provincial Fire Marshall Paul Boudreau has ruled out arson he expects to have more answers about the cause later today.

Sussex Mayor Marc Thorne says the town’s fire chief has given him a bit of insight regarding the blaze.

“We know it started somewhere behind the Broadway Cafe. Whether it started inside or outside the building is still unknown.”

Thorne adds people in the town are already planning to restore the street, making sure it is not left an empty lot.

The fire in the town destroyed two historic buildings on Broad Street which housed five prominent businesses and several apartments.
