FREDERICTON – The head of Corporate Research Associates believes the results of a new poll should raise some red flags for the Alward government.
Forty-seven percent of those polled last month say they are satisfied with the Alward Conservative government, while 44% say they’re dissatisfied.
CRA chairman and CEO Don Mills said his organization has never seen a government get re-elected with less than fifty percent satisfaction.
“People are a little disgruntled in the Maritimes because of economic circumstances, and incumbent governments get to wear that,” Mills said, speaking on Maritime Morning with Jordi Morgan. “This is certainly what’s happening in the case of Premier (David) Alward and the PC government.”
Overall support for the Conservatives dropped to 38% from 44% three months ago, while the Liberals remained at 32%, and the NDP gained five points to 24%.
Mills says the NDP is building off strong ground-roots work by its leader, Dominic Cardy.
