MONCTON, N.B. -  Hercules the squirrel monkey is safe and sound back home at the Magnetic Hill Zoo.

Zoo general manager Bruce Dougan says he got the tiny monkey back yesterday afternoon from an anonymous man who said three teenagers he knew broke into the zoo Tuesday night and took Hercules as a prank.

Dougan says the 19 year-old Hercules appears to be in good shape, if a little freaked out after his ordeal.

Dougan says he agreed with the anonymous man that he would not get police involved, so long as Hercules was returned unharmed.

He also says the zoo will be reviewing their security procedures.

Hercules will spend the night under observation, and will be reunited with his fellow squirrel monkeys this morning.
