A man serving time in prison for the murder of two Moncton police officers in 1974, has been denied parole.

Richard Bergeron and James Hutchison were both convicted of the first degree murder of Aurele Bourgeois and Michael O’Leary.  Bergeron and Hutchison both were sentenced to death, but those sentences were reduced to life in prison when the death penalty was abolished in Canada in 1976.

Bergeron, who was formerly known as Ricky Ambrose,  appeared before a parole board in Alberta this week, but his application was denied..

James Hutchison died in the Kingston Penitentiary in June last year.
