There are no immediate plans to ban flying lanterns in New Brunswick.
A Spokesperson for the Department of Public Safety Sheila Lagace says they are reviewing rules in light of developments in other jurisdictions.
This week, the lanterns that use heat from a small flame to keep them afloat, were banned in Prince Edward Island. Fines of up to $1000 could be handed out if you are caught using one.
The lanterns are also prohibited in Nova Scotia.
