SAINT JOHN, N.B. – Politicians around the country are remembering Jack Layton today, on the anniversary of his death.

Former NDP leader passed away a year ago today from cancer, just months after leading his party to official Opposition status for the first time in history.

New Brunswick NDP leader Dominic Cardy says every Canadian can learn something from Layton’s story. “Never giving up. Just keep going. Keep working all the time, trying to make things better. Talk to people as well”

Cardy says party members, not Layton’s legacy, will keep the party moving in the right direction.

Layton was 61 years old.
