TORONTO – A former church youth counsellor in Sussex has been arrested in Ontario for attempted child luring.

Police in Durham Region, near Toronto, say Kris Allan Gowdy was picked up yesterday after police set up a sting online.

They say an officer posing as a 15-year-old boy was befriended by a man online.

The two agreed to meet for sex, and Gowdy was arrested.

The 42-year-old HIV-positive pastor at a Methodist church in Ontario, has been charged with trying to lure a child online and attempted aggravated sexual assault.

Police say they’re concerned about the possibility of more victims, as Gowdy served as a child youth counsellor in Sussex, Saskatoon, Amherstview, Ontario, and Rochester, New York.
