MONCTON, N.B. – Another major sporting event is being added to Moncton’s event resume.

The city has been chosen to host the 2013 Football Canada Cup.

It’s the first time a New Brunswick city has been chosen to host the under-18 national championship.

Mayor George LeBlanc says it’s a great opportunity for the Hub City.

“We’ve had the CFL, the Uteck Bowl, and this is going to be a great opportunity.  I think it’s going to be an exciting event.”

The event will be held over eight days next July.

It will see eight teams consisting of the best high school football players from across the country.

The games will be played at Rocky Stone Field.
