CHARLOTTETOWN, PEI – A three-year-old boy is dead after being hit by a pick-up truck on Prince Edward Island.

RCMP say the boy was riding a small bike from the waiting area to the track area of the Oyster Bed Raceway near Charlottetown when he was hit on Sunday afternoon.

The 28-year-old driver from Nova Scotia was heading toward the track area in a pick-up truck and didn’t see the child.

The boy was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police say the driver and the child were known to each other, but no names are being released pending family notification.

Alcohol and speed are not believed to be factors in the incident.
