SAINT JOHN, N.B. – It seems Saint John residents are split over the Bacchus Motorcycle Club moving out of the south end.

Yesterday, the bikers were spotted moving their belongings, from their clubhouse on Pitt Street, after the fire marshal issued a “do not occupy” order due to building code violations found during a police search.

One south end resident tells Global News she felt the biker club protected the community. ” The Bacchus are the watchdogs of Saint John.”

Common councillor Donnie Snook was pleased to see the group moving out of his ward.

Bacchus Saint John president Matthew Foley appeared in court earlier this week charged with second-degree murder in the death of 31-year old Michael Schimpf.
