MONCTON, NB – It took about four hours today to select a jury for a high profile murder trial in Moncton.

A panel of seven men and five women has been chosen to hear evidence at the trial of Fred Prosser.

The 33-year-old Shenstone man is alleged to have sexually assaulted and murdered 25-year-old Sabrina Patteron of Riverview in the fall of 2010.

Patterson’s brother, Dale Patterson Jr., says the family is relieved that the trial is about to get underway.

“Looking forward to getting this over with, putting it behind us.  It’s going to be nice to mourn in our own way without having to go through this (through the media) and court.”

A publication ban on the victim’s name imposed earlier today has been lifted by the judge at the request of the Crown and the victim’s family.
