SAINT JOHN, N.B. – Acting provincial chief medical health officer Doctor Denis Allard says there is a chance we may never known the source of the latest E.coli infection.

There are currently four cases of the potentially deadly strain of the virus in the province with two of the cases being treated at the Saint John Regional Hospital.

E.coli specialist Herb Schellhorn at McMaster University tells “The Todd Veinotte Show” ground beef is often a problem when it comes to E.coli because of how it’s made.

“It can represent meat from many many different animals and even small amounts of contamination can cause serious disease.”

The E.coli affecting the four people in New Brunswick is the same strain that killed a number of people in Walkerton, Ontario in 2000.
