MONCTON, NB – A Moncton artist studio is getting 50-thousand dollars from the province to transform an 8-thousand square foot industrial garage into a year-round cultural destination.

The Artisan Village, located across from Bore Park on Main Street, houses the work of about a dozen artists including owner Shane Myers.

The metal artist says money will be put to install better signage, washrooms, doors and windows.

Tourism, Culture and Wellness Minister Trevor Holder says the Artisan Village  is a great opportunity to bring culture and tourism into one product.

Not only can visitors purchase items on display…but they can also participate in classes and seminars on site.

Eventual plans will see the addition of a cafe and a stage for live performances.
