FREDERICTON – New Brunswick residents are going to have an extra couple of months to offer feedback to the province on the future of regulations governing the oil and gas industry.

Natural Resources Minister Bruce Northrup announced today that he’s received more than a hundred responses to the government’s discussion paper on the issue.

Northrup says he wants to give people more time, so he has moved the consultation deadline from July 18th to September 18th.

Several advocacy groups have been critical of the government’s handling of shale gas exploration in the province, and the use of the controversial hydro-fracking process.
