MONCTON, N.B. – A group that is fighting plans to relocate Moncton High School to the outskirts of the city will be closely eyeing a meeting at city hall this afternoon.

The city has called a special public meeting for council to consider a recommendation dealing with provincial funding of city infrastructure associated with construction of new schools.

Members of the group “Stop the Royal Hoax” has applied to the courts for a judicial review of the plan.

Group member Michael Roy says they see the move as an attempt by the province to circumvent that process.

“I think that they’ve been feeling the heat, and I think that they probably came up with this to help ram things through before it got to court.”

Roy is urging all citizens with a vested interest in the matter to attend today’s public meeting of council, which gets underway at 3:30pm.
