MONCTON, NB - Moncton High parents, students and alumni will attempt to form a human chain around the school tonight.
It’s a symbolic embrace and a show of opposition to plans to relocate the school to the outskirts of the city.
Parent and organizer Anne-Marie Picone Ford says it’s time for the province to listen to public calls for the government to re-examine an earlier report that recommended the best location for the school was in the downtown core.
She says many kid will be left at a disadvantage if the school is moved to the Royal Oaks property…
“The accessibility that these kids have, to after-school jobs, extra-curricular activities, even things like mental health services… these are all things you can’t do if you’re in the middle of nowhere.” says Picone Ford.
Tonight’s rally runs from 6-til-8 in front of Moncton High.
