FREDERICTON, N.B. – A plan for 704 new specialized care beds for seniors with Alzheimer’s and dementia patients is officially underway.

The provincial government has put the call out for proposals, which is part of the nursing home renovation and replacement plan.

Social Development Minister Sue Stultz says these beds will help to provide enhanced services to seniors who require level 3 care, and who may require assistance with daily activities, but may not need ongoing nursing care or supervision.

“There’s nothing like it across Canada.  I’m really looking forward to working with the New Brunswick Alzheimer’s Society and our special care home people who are very, very special.  They will be moving forward with us to help us help seniors in our province.”

The deadline for proposals from qualified bidders is July 6th.
