MONCTON, N.B. – RCMP are reminding drivers to be mindful of black ice in the morning and evening, after icy roads claimed the life of a Lower Coverdale teenaged boy following an accident last night on the Salisbury Road.

Mounties say the car was travelling east at around 9:45pm when it left the road and went down an embankment and landed in a wooded area in Allison, just outside of Moncton.

The driver had to be cut out of the vehicle using the jaws of life.

He was taken to hospital where he died of his injuries this morning.

Police say the cause of the crash remains under investigation, but that roads were icy at the time of the crash.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor.

The boy’s name has not been released.
